For the past year, I have had the pleasure of serving as the Chair of the State Bar Criminal Law Section. Now, as a result of legislative change, the sections of the State Bar are a separate, non-profit entity called the California Lawyers Association, or CLA. For convenience, attorneys can still join a section by “checking a box” on their annual State Bar dues bill. The new association will give the sections the flexibility needed to better serve section members. The Criminal Law Section will continue to produce outstanding CLE programs. Attorneys should make sure they join a section of the new California Lawyers Association. We are looking forward to an exciting new year.
